The Aims and Objectives for which the Society of Operations Management (hereon referred to as the Society in this document) is established are as follows:

   
 
  • To promote activities that help generate, consolidate, and disseminate knowledge in the field of manufacturing and service operations and related areas.

  • To organize and promote research, conferences, seminars, and training in manufacturing and service operations and related areas.

  • To promote the usage of analytical thinking and practices in manufacturing and service operations found in academia, industry and the government.

  • To promote the usage of manufacturing and service operations concepts for improving work standards and performance in public and private sectors.

  • To forge a strong link between academics and practitioners in the field of manufacturing and service operations.

  • To forge a strong link between the Society and other similar societies around the world.

  • To motivate young students to take up careers in manufacturing and service operations

  • To publish and promote literature in manufacturing and service operations.

  • To recognize scholarship and contributions in manufacturing and service operations and related areas.
