Society of Operations Management (SOM) announces its 12^th annual conference during December 19-21, 2008. The conference will be hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. The theme of the conference is "Innovation and Manufacturing Excellence: Path to Global India". The Indian manufacturing sector has been recognized as a major source for economic growth of the country. Several initiatives are being taken by the government and industry to enhance the competitiveness of Indian manufacturing sector.  The aim of the conference is to bring together academicians and practitioners to discuss new ideas and research that facilitate Indian manufacturing sector to be globally competitive.

A Doctoral consortium will be held on the first day of the conference and will be followed by the Main Conference on the next two days.
